10 years ago, nine times BBAR and multi-national champion and record holder Ian Cammish joined Planet X as a team rider. As part of the sponsorship package he was supplied with a fixed wheel time trial bike (basically a track bike with a front brake).
He learned a LOT from this.
“I didn’t have a power meter at the time but using ‘fixed’ was as good as! For one … it stopped me starting too hard. I chose a gear I felt comfortable with at race speed. Needless to say that was pretty big, so a steady start was necessary to avoid going in to the red!”
“Another benefit was that the ride had to be controlled to prevent over-cooking it on the drags. All this helped to ‘even out’ the effort”.
That season he recorded four 50 minute 25 mile rides and 16 open wins (all at the ripe old age of 52!). The following season he went on to ride his fastest ever 50 on ‘fixed … a 1-41 on a gear of 52 x 13.
Since then he’s always been a fan of ‘fixed’ and, to this day, continues to train and test equipment using a converted track bike.
Over the past few years he has continued to develop his passion for this type of training / racing by creating an even more aerodynamic and lighter tt / fixed bike. To move all this up to the next level, we at PDQ Cycling have been looking closely at the bikes currently being used in World track competitions to come up with something that is equally at home on both the track and the road. We have been liaising closely with the various manufacturers of our highly successful and reliable range of carbon products and after many tweaks and updates have come up with something we are all VERY impressed with and excited about.
Our aim was to come up with the lightest, most energy efficient and aesthetically pleasing (ie beautiful) track / time trial bike possible.
We believe we have achieved the objective and are delighted to announce the arrival of our latest product … the PDQ track / time trial fuselage.
We have ‘smoothed out’ the frontal area of the bike by incorporating an aero fairing into the head tube area and moving the front brake to behind the fork crown.
The frame can be used for both track and time trial use. It can be used with either ‘drop’ handlebars or a more aero cockpit for time trial or pursuit use. Simply remove the brake calliper for use on the track.
It is being supplied in strictly limited quantities … just three designs in each size.
Currently available in either the Pro1 LOOK, Pro 2 LOOK or Ice Cool LOOK.
The fuselage is supplied complete with frame, forks, seat post, headset, adjustable stem, PDQ tt cockpit and front TRP TTV brake.
VERY limited supply in stock now at just £1499.99 shipped.
